Compassionate grounds claim

All claims must be made directly to APRA and supported with appropriate documents as evidence. Contact APRA on 1300 13 1060 for more information.

Compassionate grounds

APRA will consider early payment of super in the following situations:

  • To make a payment on a loan to prevent foreclosure of a mortgage on your principal place of residence.
  • To modify your principal place of residence or vehicle to accommodate your or your dependent’s special needs as a result of severe disability.
  • To pay for your or your dependent’s palliative costs.
  • To pay for costs of a funeral, burial or cremation of a dependent.

When your claim is approved

If you think you may qualify, you’ll need to make this application directly with APRA, not HOSTPLUS Executive. You can call them on 1300 131 060 or visit their website here for more information.

You’ll need to supply three separate certified documents that prove your identity, including:

  • a certified copy of photo identification showing your full name and date of birth ie. passport, driver’s licence or birth certificate
  • the back and front of your credit card, employment ID card, passport or driver’s license showing your signature (unless you’ve already used it to prove your name and date of birth)
  • a recent rent bill, bank statement, credit card statement, electoral enrolment card showing your current address. If photo identification is not available, we require a statutory declaration stating you have no photo identification and three other forms of identification.

To have a copy of a document certified, please take the original and copies to a person authorised in your State or Territory to sign statutory declarations.
