If you’re able to provide sufficient proof that you’re experiencing financial difficulty and are unable to meet reasonable and immediate family living expenses, you could have a minimum of $1,000 (except when your account balance is less than $1,000) and a maximum of $10,000 , before tax, released to you from your super in a year.
Financial hardship conditions
To prove financial hardship you must be able to show HOSTPLUS Executive a letter from Centrelink confirming that you have been receiving Commonwealth Income Support Payment for at least 26 weeks.
Commonwealth Income Support Payments include:
- Social security or service pension
- Certain social security benefits
- Income support supplements
- Drought relief payments
- Exceptional circumstances relief payments
- Commonwealth Development Employment Projects (CDEP) scheme payments.
If you are 55 years and 39 weeks of age and above, your entire benefit can be released as long as you: have received a Commonwealth income support payment for a cumulative 39 weeks after reaching age 55, and are not gainfully employed on a full time (30 hours or more per week) or part time basis on the date of your application.
